Following on from the succesful visit to South Hampshire BS open show, Martin Gardner organised another trip, this time to the Heads of the Valley BS open show. This time he had Doug Banks with him to ride "shotgun" but they still managed to get lost en route, although they were there in plenty of time!! It was a good day for Swindon members with Charlie Randall taking best young bird and best champion young bird. Congrats to Charlie. Ron Payne was second best champion young bird and best opposite sex young bird in show with his light green hen. Fred Eatwell and family took two cc's (crest and recessive pied) whilst Chelsea Sysum was best junior young bird. A total of 14 Swindon members sent birds to the show. Congratulations to Heads of the Valleys club who bucked the recent trend and increased their entries.
The July meeting saw an exceptionally good turnout of members with 50 birds being staged for the judge Bill Searle. Results were as follows:
Lutino - Bob McCabe
Albino - Ray Cozens
Crest - the Eatwell family
Spangle - the Eatwell family
Dominant Pied - the Eatwell family
Recessive Pied - Roger Hestor
Yellowface - Bryan Hindon
Rare Variety - Pete Smith
AOC - Ron Payne
